I grew up in NJ which is on the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. Believe or not, Some people do not realize that. There’s nothing more refreshing then having the wet, ocean breeze blow across your skin. I remember walking on the Jersey Shore Pier amidst all of the amusement rides, games, and food stands. All the while music would play with bright lights everywhere.
It was 1980, when a friend and i went to the shore for a couple weeks. Once with her mother and sisters and once with my sister and her husband. Vinnie Mardoni’s “Into the Night was playing” on the car radio. we would walk the boardwalk in the evening air. I was wearing a “Damn the torpedos” baseball jersey with red sleeves. we would walk around eating ice cream while playing the games on the boardwalk.
Seaside Beach and Sandy hook were the beaches i would visit the most with Atlantic City and Wildwood next in line. as I have gotten older, I love Monmouth beach also due to the racetrack also being there. Going to the beach, the track, and finishing up at enzo’s! The Musical Pier brand was inspired by memories of the NJ Shore.
The first series of posts on the musical pier Blog will cover concerts performed on piers. the next series will include historical concerts. Stay tuned for more posts!
